What a great trip we had with ChinaWayfinder in Chongqing. Belinda was super relaxed and organised tour guide and helped us really enjoy so much of all the delights of this very special city. Thanks Belinda!

Soaking in Hangzhou I explored Hangzhou with Eleven as our guide. It was such a pleasant exploration of Hangzhou; from the Impressions of Hangzhou show to the various landmarks around West Lake. Eleven really brought much knowledge and energy to the touring. He’s well spoken in English and eager to share stories about Hangzhou, we very much enjoyed his guiding and commentary. Would recommend this tour to anyone interested in soaking in Hangzhou, especially if you can have Eleven as your guide. Thank you Eleven!

A Short but Meaningful Beijing Visit Olivia was our guide for 2 days in Beijing. It was the last leg of our customised tour covering Xi'an, Luoyang, Zhengzhou and Beijing....a deep dive into the wellspring of Chinese civilisation. We were understandably tired but Olivia's effervescent personality helped to lift us out of that. We revisited the Great Wall at Mutianyu after more than 30 years but it was a great change from what was once a quiet and scenic part of the wall..... the crowd was huge. Hence, we cut short our climb to enjoy a lovely lunch on the return journey, sampling local dishes that we've not tried before...including fruit picking peaches, apples and pears. The afternoon visit to the drum tower was timely, as there was a short drum performance that included the gigantic main drum, a worthwhile reward for the effort to stride up the extremely high and steep steps leading up the tower. We also enjoyed great views from the tower, looking out from an axial line of an old city plan of Beijing. Then came tea in a Hutong house, where we conversed some with the owner and were briefed on the history of the house and some of its artifacts. It was a good interaction with the host. Day 2 was short with a lovely walk through the scenic Summer Palace grounds and lake, under the guidance of Olivia, who by now, had understood our wish to stay away from large crowds. She moved us purposefully but at a gentle pace. Lunch was more than adequate, with Peking Duck as centre piece. The meal was well curated by Olivia and we enjoyed it much. All trips come to an end but we will remember well, this short visit to Beijing with our happy and attentive guide, Olivia

Wonderful first day in China with Jack We spent our very first day in China on a private family tour of Beijing with Jack - and couldn’t have wished for a better guide. We arrived full of questions about China, its people, history and everyday life, and Jack never seemed to tire of answering them. He is incredibly knowledgeable, patient and entertaining, and made the whole day great fun. The whole family loved it. We would recommend Jack without hesitation to anyone visiting Beijing. Thank you for giving us such a fantastic introduction to China!

Super fun and educational Our Bei Jing trip was super fun and super educational. Our tour guide William was super knowledgeable.

Great Beijing We had a great time in Beijing with Mark as our guide and Zhou as our excellent driver. Mark was a very knowledgeable guide who was also flexible to accommodate our request to visit other areas like the 798 art district. He also recommended a fine restaurant for Peking duck that didn’t disappoint. We visited the secret and summer palace and nailed a quieter time on the Great Wall with an early morning start. A fun three days :)

Our guide Selina was fantastic showing us the sites. Knowledgeable and most helpful. Not part of the itinerary she took us to an ATM per request, found me my favorite chestnuts, walked us to a wonderful local best restaurant and got us a table right away despite the long wait, and best of all took us to play ping pong at a local court which was super fun. Thank you Selina! Highly recommend Selina for a guide.

From the very first day in Guilin, Elaine greeted us with the biggest smile and immediately made us feel welcome, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. She is, without a doubt, one of the sweetest, kindest, and most attentive people we met throughout our entire China trip. For four days, Elaine went above and beyond at every opportunity, making us feel like VIPs 24/7. She was incredibly thoughtful, easygoing, flexible, and always one step ahead of what we might need. It never felt like we were simply following an itinerary, it felt like we were traveling with someone who truly cared about making our experience special. And some of our favorite moments weren’t even on the itinerary! Completely on her own initiative, Elaine took me to a local hair-washing salon and then arranged a foot massage, such a fun and unexpected experience that I will remember for a long time. Those little personal touches are exactly what made her so exceptional. Elaine’s kindness is genuine, and her smile is absolutely contagious. You simply can’t help but smile when she smile! She brought such a positive, joyful energy to every day and made everything feel effortless. We have had some incredible guides during our China journey, but Elaine holds a very special place in our hearts. She didn’t just show us Guilin, she made us feel cared for, spoiled, and truly welcomed. If you are lucky enough to have Elaine as your guide, you are in for an incredible experience.
